Grid Geometry for PICScript

Usually you will want to use the geometry of an existing grid for the geometry of your output grid. You can use an available geometry as a starting point and modify it to meet your requirements. See PICScript - Running a Grid Script.

To specify an unique geometry for your grid script output, describe the geometry on the Geometry/Reference tab of the dialog box.

To define a new geometry your will provide the coordinate location for the origin of the grid (X-Origin, Y-Origin), an angle for the grid (In-line Orientation), the number of grid lines (X-lines and In-lines) and the distance between grid lines (Spacing).

Grid X-lines and In-lines are constructed beginning at the origin.

By default the Grid X direction is East/West and Grid Y direction is North/South with the grid origin in the Southwest. The location of the origin of your output grid will dependent on the in-line orientation you set. CollapsedView image

The in-line orientation angle is specified in degrees of departure from East/West. The first grid In-line is drawn at the angle you specify and will be long enough to accommodate the required X-lines at the Spacing distance you have chosen. The rest of the grid will be laid out based on this first grid In-line. CollapsedView images
