Move Folders and Items

For organizational reasons, you might want to rearrange the order of your folders and layers in the Object Manager bar. In ProductName, you can move the items by clicking and dragging them to a new position. The order of the items in the list determines the order they are displayed in the map, with top items displaying as the top layers. Follow these steps to rearrange folders and layers:

This help topic uses images of the Horizon tab, but the same steps apply to the other tabs in the Object Manager bar.

Hover your mouse cursor over the name of the folder or layer you want to move.

Left-click and hold the mouse cursor on the name then drag the cursor to move the item. A ghost image of the object will move with the cursor, along with an icon showing how you are proposing to move the item. You can move an item above or below the current location in a folder, or into another folder . ProductName will indicate if you are trying to move an item to an invalid location. View image

As you move your cursor vertically across a folder, the move options will change to show the eligible actions (above, below, or into).

When you release the cursor, the item will move to the new location.

If you move a folder to another folder that already has a folder of the same name,WinPICS displays a message asking if you want to merge the contents of the two folders. If you select <Yes>, the items in the moved folder are added to the destination folder, and the moved folder is deleted.

Invalid locations

The following locations are invalid destinations to move an item in the Object Manager:

You cannot move an item into a folder that already has an instance of that item in it already. For example, if you have a horizon in both the Horizons folder, and in a custom folder you created, you cannot drag it from the custom folder into the Horizons folder.
You cannot drag and drop seismic versions to other locations in the Object Manager.

Use local shortcuts

You can also use local shortcuts to move folders and items.
