Post Consistency Slices

Consistency slices are a statistical measure of the trace-to-trace similarity. They are useful in examining fault edges, locating anomalies, or identifying data problems. Consistency slices can be posted on the fly from existing amplitude slice files to save disk space, or from a pre-calculated consistency slice file to save posting time. You can post horizon and fault interpretation and fault contact points on the slice data (see Posting Interpretation on Slices).

From the Map menu bar, select Post | Post Slice | Post Consistency Slice...
Select On The Fly to post slices from an existing amplitude slice file (see Creating Amplitude Slice File) or Pre-computed to post slices from a pre-calculated consistency slice file (see Creating Consistency Slices).
Select the Data Type. The default data type is your current version, which is the 3D seismic file with the largest extension number. You may select a different version of your 3D file or an instantaneous attribute file.
If you're calculating consistency slices on-the-fly, specify the Time Window and the number of Neighboring Bins. The time window setting depends on the resolution of your data. 10 ms is the default and is a good value for data sampled at 2 ms. The number of neighboring bins over which the comparison is run, depends upon the trace-to-trace variability of your data and available memory.
Set the Reference to post your slice at a specified time or a at picked horizon.
Set the Start Time for the first slice. If you are posting your slices relative to time zero, your first slice will simply be the slice at the time you enter. If you are posting your slices relative to a horizon, ProductName will display the slice at the time equal to the horizon time, plus or minus the time your enter.
Set the Increment Time for scrolling through the consistency slices.
Click <OK> to post your slice, or click <Cancel> to discard your changes and exit the window. The status bar at the top of the Map window gives the time of the slice.
Press the <+> and <-> keys on your keyboard to move up and down the seismic volume at the specified increment.
To change your start time, reference, or time increment select Post Consist Slice again.

You may want to change the color palette to a gray scale for consistency slice viewing. To do this, right-click on the color palette and select Open CSet from the shortcut menu. Select GREY.CS from the WinPICS Profiles directory.
Select Clear Posting from the map shortcut menu, or press <e> on your keyboard to clear all postings from the Map window.
