Export 2D - Decimation Window

You can decimate 2D lines by trace, shotpoint, or distance. Control the output by allowing only integers or multiples of a specified number, set a reference point from which to start the decimation, and select to include the first and last traces.

  1. Select to decimate 2D lines by trace, shotpoint, or distance under Decimate By.
  2. Enter a decimation factor for the decimation interval. If you select to decimate by distance and enter a decimation factor of ‘50’, then WinPICS selects a trace approximately every 50 m. If you select to decimate by trace and enter a decimation factor of ‘2’, then WinPICS selects every second trace.
  3. Select one of three options for the Output Restriction to define valid numbers for decimation results:
  1. Select one of three options for the Decimation Reference to define the starting point for decimation:
  1. If the Force End Points check box is selected, the first and last traces are accepted even if they do not fall within the output restriction. For example, if you decimate by shot point in conjunction with only locations multiple of 5, then decimation would yield 101, 105, 110, etc.
