File Extensions

WinPICS uses the following file extensions:

Extension Description
3d 3D coordinate filename.
.8d*, .yd*, .fy* Data filename (8, 16, 32bit)
.8h*, .yh*, .fh* 2D/3D header filename (8, 16, 32bit)
.8y*, .yp*, .fp* On the fly seismic display (contains current bulk, phase and amp scale info.)
.aff ASCII format file containing survey and well spot formats
.asc Extension for ASCII files
.avf Velocity model file
.c2p 2D contact point filename (line specific)
.c3p 3D contact point filename (project specific)
.cs Color set files
.db Database file
.dxy Decimated 2D cordinate files
.fmt SEG-Y import format definition
.fnc Fence definition files
.g3d, .g3f Stores the x/y's and values of the grid nodes for each horizon grid (3D)
.g2d, .g2f Store the x/y's and values of the grid nodes for each horizon grid (2D)
.gdb Stores gridding parameters for all the horizon grids in your project
.h2f 2D horizon filename
.h3f 3D horizon filename
.ini Contains configuration parameters, draw order, etc.
.las Well information file
.list Stores a list of horizon math equations used
.mol Map overlay file
.mul Map underlay file
.mfl Fault trace file
.mbl Map backup layer
.mpt Map plot template
.spt Seismic plot template
.qq* History filename
.lut Synthetic panel mnemonic lookup tables
.sav Current screen configuration
.sc* Consistency slice volume
.sl* Amplitude/time slice volume
.tfi Wavelet file information
.tf* Transfer function filename
.ttd Checkshot file
.pgn Polygon file
.script PICScript file
.syn Synthetic panel definition
.ud User defined control points file
