HP DesignJet
Configuration
HP DesignJet plotters are by far the largest set of output devices used by WinPICS
interpreters. To make plotting easy and to take advantage of automatic page sizing, you need the appropriate HP drivers. You can find the latest HP DesignJet driver in the Drivers
directory of the WinPICS CD.
For step-by-step instructions on configuring your HP DesignJet, select the operating system you use:
HP Plotter Configuration
for Windows 95/98
- Insert the CD or disk containing your HP DesignJet
driver. (You can find the latest HP DesignJet driver in the Drivers
directory of the WinPICS CD.)
- From the Windows menu, select .
- Double-click <Add
Printer> to open the Add
Printer wizard, which will guide you through the installation process.
- Select Local
Printer.
- Select a physical port
if your plotter is directly connected to your computer. Otherwise, select
a network printer.
- Click <Have
Disk>, and select the drive and path of your driver disk/CD.
- Select the printer.
- Name the printer HP
Design Jet.
- You can add text to this name as long as it starts with HP
DesignJet so that WinPICS can properly identify the device in order to size pages automatically.
- Click <Finish>.
- When the wizard is finished, right-click on the
<HP DesignJet> icon and
select .
- On the Advanced
page, specify Process document... In computer. Ignore any warnings.
HP Plotter Configuration
for Windows NT
- Insert your Microsoft NT installation disk. We recommend using the driver on this CD instead of the HP driver because of memory management problems with the HP driver.
- From the Windows menu, select .
- Double-click <Add
Printer>, to open the Add
Printer wizard, which will guide you through the installation process.
- Select <My
Computer>.
- Select a physical port
if your plotter is directly connected to your computer. Otherwise, select
a network printer.
- Click <Have
Disk>. Select the drive and path of your driver disk/CD.
- Select the printer.
- Select to Replace
the Existing Driver.
- Name the printer HP
Design Jet.
- You can add text to this name as long as it starts with HP
DesignJet so that WinPICS can properly identify the device in order to size pages automatically.
- Select Shared if your plotter is installed on your machine and you wish to share it with other users.
