Save Layer
Once you have completed drawing all the
objects and you want to save on the current layer, you can save your layer.
Save to current layer
To save the changes to your current layer, right-click on the map and select .
Save to new layer
To save the changes to a new layer, right-click on the
map display and select .
This will open the Save Layer As...

For each layer you can enter a unique name
and then save it as one of three types. An
overlay, an underlay or a fault trace. If
you do not specify a layer type and/or a unique name, then the layer is
saved as an overlay using a WinPICS
default name.
After the layer type is selected you can
save the layer in one of the following ways:
- Create
New Layer-Type
in a unique name for the layer and click "Create
New Layer".
This will create a new layer which can be toggled on/off in the Edit Map
Draw Order.
- Append
to Layer-Use
the pull down bar to select a layer that already exists in your project
and then click on "Append to
Layer".
This will
add newly created layers to the already existing layer.
- Overwrite
Layer-Use the
pull down bar to select a layer that already exists in your project and
then click on "Create New Layer". This
will delete all objects in the layer and save the newly created objects
to that layer.
- To
turn layers on/off in Edit Map Draw Order you must first highlight the
appropriate layer type (Map Underlay,
Grid & Culture Overlays,
or Fault Trace) and
then select Turn on/off Sub Layers...
