Time
Gate
The time gate is a window applied to a function in the time domain to
transfer the function to the frequency domain. WinPICS
provides three time gates:
- Rectangular Time
Gate: The rectangular time gate is a window with no tapering. It
usually results in a function with strong side lobes.
- Hanning Time
Gate: The Hanning time gate is a tapered window and is the default
time gate in WinPICS. It is defined
as:
- 1/2 + 1/2cos¥, -pi < ¥ < pi
- 0, ¥ < -pi or ¥ > pi
- Hamming Time
Gate: The Hamming time gate is a tapered window. It is similar
to the Hanning time gate and is defined as:
- 0.54 + 0.46cos¥, -pi < ¥ < pi
- 0, ¥ < -pi or ¥ >
