Tools Toolbar

The Tools toolbar has the following options:

Most of the toolbar options behave slightly different when you hold the <Shift> key as you use the option. Refer to the following table for more information.

Name	Description	Hold the <Shift> key to:
Drawing	Click to open the Drawing drop down menu, where you can choose how to position objects.	n/a
Select	Click to turn your cursor into a selecting tool to select objects. Read more.	Select multiple objects.
Line	Click and drag the cursor across the print layout to draw a straight line.	Draw a perfectly horizontal or vertical line.
Polyline	Click the cursor on the map at the line's starting point, and continue to click on the map for each segment of the line. To finish your line, double-click at the endpoint.	Create perfectly horizontal or vertical lines at each segment.
Polygon	Click the cursor on the map at the polygon's starting point, and continue to click on the map for each segment of the shape. To finish your polygon, double-click at the endpoint. GeoVista will automatically join the end point to the start point to close the shape.	Create perfectly horizontal or vertical lines at each segment.
Rectangle	Click and drag the cursor across the print layout to draw a rectangle shape.	Draw a square.
Circle	Click and drag the cursor across the print layout to draw an oval shape.	Draw a circle.
Text	Click this icon, and then click the print layout to open the Edit Text dialog box, where you can enter text to display on the map.	n/a
