You can import stacking velocities ( RMS), interval velocities, or average velocities into WinPICS . These velocity files are generated from the Landmark TDQ module and usually have an AVF extension. (AVF stands for ASCII Velocity File.) Most processing software and many processors can provide you with velocity data in this format.
The velocity file is made up of time depth pairs. The datum is assumed to be the seismic datum of your project. See Sample AVF File
In the import process velocities from the ASCII file are projected to the nearest seismic trace. The velocities are interpolated for the times of each of the selected horizons and stored to a new horizon. The new horizon has the time of the original horizon. The velocity is stored in the amplitude portion of the pick database. The new horizon has the name of the original horizon with a _v appended.
