Well Symbol X-Reference

The Symbol X-Reference file is used to pair well status codes from an imported Well-spot file to symbols used in WinPICS mapping. The tools to edit this file are available in the Well-spot Import Parameters step of the import well-spot function of the Well-spot Database.

  1. In the Well-spot Import Parameters dialog box, select the Kernel format and click <Edit>.
  2. Enter a name for the new X-Reference Format.
  3. The first few lines of the file begin with an exclamation point. These are comment lines. You may enter your own comments in these lines.
  4. The body of the file is made up of lines with two fields on each line. The first field is a status code (user code) from your input file in quotes, followed by a comma and the second field which is the Kernel symbol code to be used to represent the first field. Replace each of the dummy status codes with status codes from your input file. Each of the status codes must appear only once in the file and must be enclosed in quotes. The Kernel codes may be repeated. (See example, below)
  5. Click <Save>.

  1. Hint: Print a copy of the  Well spot symbol set and keep it by your keyboard while you work.
