SeisX ASCII Well-spot Import

WinPICS provides a pre-processor to automatically reformat SeisX ASCII well-spot information files. Well symbol assignment is taken care of in the reformat process.

To import SeisX ASCII format well-spot files

  1. On the Application toolbar select |Well Database. The Well Spot Database dialog box will open.
  2. Select ASCII Import | Well-spots to import a new well-spot file.
  3. Select the source file for your well-spot(s) using standard Windows commands. In the File Format: box, select SeisX ASCII Well Format.
  4. Click <Open> to pre-process the well-spot file. The Define ASCII Format window will open.-
  5. At the top right of the dialog find the pull down menu for Format Name. Select KERNEL_PRE. Check the Parsed Output display to confirm that the well information is displayed correctly.
  6. Click <OK> to proceed to the Well-spot Import Parameters dialog box. Here you can see a summary of the wells to be imported and the symbols with which they will be displayed on the map.
  7. Select the X-Reference Format: SeisX, the pre-processor has taken care of assigning symbols to your wells based on the status codes from your input file.
  8. Specify the Depth Units. Are the KBs etc. in meters or feet? The units will be converted as needed to comply with the depth units setting in Project Preferences.
  9. Click <Import>.
  10. Once the well-spot import is complete, click <OK> to return to the Well-spot Database.
  11. Click <Save> to save the new well-spots to the database.
