Working Buffer

The working buffer setting in the Create Amplitude Slices or Create Consistency Slices windows is the amount of memory available for creating slices. The working buffer is not equal to the physical memory (RAM) installed on your machine because some RAM may be allocated to run other applications. A minimum of one megabyte is required to create time or horizon slices.

If the working buffer is less than one megabyte, do one of the following:

Close other applications to maximize the RAM available for creating slices.
Enter a new number for the working buffer. WinPICS will swap to disk as it calculates your slice file. This is only a good solution if you have plenty of disk space available. Do not set a number for the working buffer that exceeds the physical memory installed on your machine.
