The number of grid lines is the number of evenly-spaced, parallel lines placed along the length of the grid axis. Increasing the number of grid lines over a given length, increases the grid density.
Enter a number for the grid lines in the Gridding dialog box in the Lines text box under Gridding Geometry. The X- and Y- line number can be different. After you have made changes, click <Update Grid Map>.
With Auto On enabled, increasing the number of grid lines results in an increase in the grid spacing in order to the relationship: [lines-1]*[spacing] = grid length.
With Auto On disabled, grid line values can be changed independently of the grid spacing.
If you only change the grid lines, an error message will appear, warning you that you must also change the grid spacing and/or grid length to maintain the relationship: [lines-1]*[spacing] = grid length.
