Series Auto Mode

The series picking modes enable you to pick a series of line segments. After you release the button to end a line segment, the cursor stays active to automatically start a new line segment at the location where the last segment ended. In Series Auto mode you provide a guide line and WinPICS attempts to locate your picks based on the event type you have assigned to that horizon.

Using the Series Auto Picking Mode

If the words Series Auto do not appear on the Current Pick Mode button (located on the Seismic window's Horizon Picking toolbar), you need to toggle off the current picking mode.

Click on the Current Pick Mode button and select Series Auto from the drop down list (or press <Ctrl> + <e> on your keyboard).

The words Series Auto will now be displayed on this button.

  1. Click on a trace where you want the pick to begin.
  2. Click on a trace where you want this segment to end. WinPICS draws a line up to that point, picking all traces along your guideline.
  3. Click a series of traces for the line to follow. With each click, WinPICS adds a segment that automatically follows the traces. The event type will determine whether you pick on a peak, trough, or zero-crossing.
