About Minimum and Maximum Scale
Each layer is best viewed in a certain zoom range, and outside that
range, it might be pointless to display the layer. You set the zoom thresholds
for each layer.
- Maximum
Scale - The upper scale limit at which GeoVista will automatically turn on the layer. The layer becomes invisible if your
current map scale is larger than the maximum scale set. Use this setting
to improve readability and drawing time by excluding detail layers, such
as wells or hydrology, from large overview maps.
- Minimum
Scale - The lower scale limit at which GeoVista will automatically turn on the layer. The layer becomes invisible if your
current map scale is smaller than the minimum scale set. Use this setting
to reduce clutter and improve performance on highly-zoomed maps. Typically,
you will set this value to 0.
You can see your layer as long as the map zoom is between the layer's
minimum and maximum zoom setting. If the zoom is smaller or larger, then
the layer is invisible. Too see layers outside the current zoom, use the
Map Tools toolbar
buttons to zoom in and zoom out on the map.
