Well-spots may be imported from fixed width columnar ASCII files or
symbol delimited ASCII files.
To import columnar data, you will match column ranges with database
elements. Similarly, you will designate delimiter and match field number
with data elements for delimited files.
The file format defines both required and optional fields. To use WinPICS' well tops and velocity functions
you must provide all of the required fields.
Required well-spot fields
UWI -
UWI, API, or other unique identifier
(enclose string in quotes)
Short name -
The label which will be posted on the map Example:
10-16 (enclose string in quotes).
X -
Map coordinate X in UTMUniversal Transverse Mercator, State Plane or other system.
Y -
Map coordinate X in UTM, State Plane or other system.
You must supply at least one set of coordinates for a well spot. If only one set of coordinates is supplied, WinPICS assumes that the borehole is straight and places a well symbol at this location. When both top and bottom hole coordinates are available, WinPICS posts well symbols at the bottom hole location.
Symbol-
Code number for symbol on maps (a cross-
reference can be created to accommodate codes used by venders) See
Well Symbol X-Reference
KB - In
Feet or Meters above sea level.
Well spots can be posted without KB, but tops cannot be used without a KB.
Required - but generated automatically if not in file
Borehole number - Optional, if missing
"1" is assigned
Borehole name - Optional,
if missing "Main" is assigned (enclose
string in quotes)
Optional Fields For User Reference
(Enclose these strings in quotes)
Date - Sortable field for reference
in 5.1
Operator - Sortable field for reference
in 5.1
Lease - Sortable field for reference
in 5.1
Optional computational fields
(Used to post well tops on seismic if
no checkshot available)
Start Depth - Beginning of log in Feet
or Meters above sea level
Start Velocity - Velocity to use from
datum to start depth
End Depth - End of log in Feet or Meters
above sea level
End Velocity - Velocity to use from
start depth to end depth
