Importing Checkshot Surveys
Checkshot Surveys are imported from ASCII files, and contain True
Vertical Depth and Time pairs.

- From the Application toolbar select |. The Well-spot Database dialog box will open. It contains
a list of the wells in your project and their properties.
- Highlight the
well you want to import the checkshot surveys for, and select .
- Select the source file for your checkshot(s)
using standard Windows commands. The Define ASCII Format dialog box will open. The first line of the Parsed
Output section should consist of a record with a Depth and Time.
If your parsed output does not look like this, you need to define the
ASCII format.
- Click <OK>. The Associate
selected wells with Checkshot File dialog box will open. A check mark
will display a successful match between the selected well and checkshot
file.
- You may force an association by selecting a specific well and clicking
<Select Checkshot File>. This will open the Set
Checkshot Time and Units dialog box.
- Select the appropriate information
for your file and click <OK>.
- Click <Save>
to save the imported checkshot survey and close the Well-spot Database.
It is best to use a neutral
reference elevation for your time and depth value such as seismic datum
or sea level. This way you can assign checkshots to multiple wells without having to edit the reference elevation
each time the checkshot is used. The reference elevations for time and
depth values can be any of the following:
- Below Kelly bushing
- Below Seismic Datum
- Below Sea Level
- Below a User Defined Elevation
- Above Sea Level (Sub
Sea Elevation)
