2D Posting Frequency

You can set the frequency at which WinPICS displays 2D survey shotpoint symbols and values on your map. As you zoom in, the annotation appears more frequently. As you zoom out, annotation appears less frequently. Use the Map Preferences Map tab to set the posting frequency.

Frequency Options

When you create hardcopy plots, you can explicitly control 2D seismic line annotation. However, on screen map displays have variable plot scales, so WinPICS enables you to control only the relative frequency of annotation.

You can set the annotation frequency for both the shotpoint location label and the posted value. Each type of annotation has three frequency settings: low, medium, and high.

If you select the same frequency for location and value, WinPICS will display four value annotations for each location annotation. The annotations will be synchronized, meaning each trace with a location label will have a value label.

If you select different frequencies for location and value, then the location labels and value labels may display slightly offset from one another.

Example of Frequency Results

The table below shows how annotation frequency varies within one 2D survey, according to whether you specify Low, Medium, or High in the Map Preferences Map tab. The results are based on a map scale of 1:5000.

Frequency Setting Distance Between Annotations
Location Value
Low 400 meters 100 meters
Medium 280 meters 70 meters
High 120 meters 30 meters
