Sticky Auto Picking Mode

The sticky picking modes are freehand modes. In Sticky Auto mode you provide a guide line and WinPICS attempts to locate your picks based on the event type you have assigned to that horizon. By default, no amplitudes are stored with sticky picks. To save amplitudes with your pick you must change the Manual Picks Have Zero Amplitude setting in your Seismic Preferences.

Using the Sticky Auto Picking Mode

If the words Sticky Auto do not appear on the Current Pick Mode button (located on the Seismic window's Horizon Picking toolbar), you need to toggle off the current picking mode.

Click on the Current Pick Mode button and select Sticky Auto from the drop down list (or press <Shift> + <s> on your keyboard).

The words Sticky Auto will now be displayed on this button.

  1. Left click on an event and, without lifting the mouse button, drag the guide line along the event. When you release the mouse button, auto pick will pick all traces along your guide line. The event type will determine whether you pick on a peak, trough, or zero-crossing.
  2. Release the button to stop drawing.
