Naming Conventions
To ensure consistency within ProductName, and compatibility between other applications, follow these conventions when naming items (For example, horizons, contours, points, grids, etc.):
- The maximum length of a name is 127 characters.
- Names must be composed of alphanumeric characters (A-Z; a-z; 0-9), dashes (‘-’), or underscores (‘_’).
- Avoid the use of periods ("."). If you use a period in the name, then the name may be read as a type of file extension which may cause the item to be lost or unreadable by
- Do not use a space at the beginning or end of the name, or have two spaces together.
- Do not use characters that are not valid in a Windows file name. For example, ":/\*?|<>. as many objects use their name as their file name.
- Do not use the tab or enter keys to create spaces within your element's name.
- Spaces, commas, and semi- colons are supported within ProductName, however we recommend you do not use them because imports and exports for other applications do not always support them.
- If you enter a name that starts or ends with a space, ProductName will automatically delete the space.
