Open or Create a WinPICS Project

When you start a WinPICS session, you can open an existing project, or create a new one.

Open an existing project

  1. Double-click the WinPICS icon on your desktop to start WinPICS.
  2. Click on the Application toolbar to open the Browse for Folder dialog box.
  3. Browse to the directory name for the project you want to open and click <OK> to open the project. WinPICS adds the project name to the Application toolbar's Projects list and opens the Map window to display your project data.

Create a new project

  1. On the Application toolbar, click to open the Browse For Folder dialog box.

  1. Browse and select the folder where you want to store the new project. You can click <Make New Folder> if you want to create a new folder.
  2. Click <OK> to open the Project Projection dialog box.

  1. Select the projection method and parameters for your project.
  2. Click <OK> to open the Set Project Preferences dialog box.

  1. You can choose from the following options:
  1. Click <OK> to create the new project.

Create a project in a new folder from Windows Explorer

  1. Create a directory using Windows Explorer.
  1. If you are already running WinPICS, select the Browse for Project icon from the Application toolbar. If you are not already running WinPICS, double click the WinPICS icon to start your WinPICS session.
  2. Select your project directory from the Browse For Folder dialog box that opens. Click <OK>. An empty WinPICS project window will open.
  3. Import data into the folder to build the project.

Save as a new project

  1. Open a project.
  2. On the Application toolbar, select Project | Save as New Project and Open.
  3. In the Browse For Folder dialog box, select the folder to create the project in.
  4. Click <OK>. WinPICS creates and opens a copy of the project you were working in.
