Generic ASCII Tops
- On the Applicationtoolbar select | . to open the Well Spot Database window. It contains a list of the wells in your project and their properties.
- Highlight the wells you want to import TOPS for, and click on . (you can select multiple wells using the Shift and Ctrl keys)
- Select the source file for your well TOPS(s) using standard Windows commands.
- Click <Open>. The Define ASCII Format window will open. The first line of the Parsed
Output section should consist of a record with a Well ID, TOP Name, and Depth. If your parsed output does not look like this, you need to define the ASCII format.
- Click <OK> to open the Define Well TOPS Source
Units dialog.
- Specify the depth (MD or TVD), time and velocity
format for the fields contained in the input file. The Associate
selected wells with TOPS window will open. A check mark will display a successful match between the selected well and TOPS file. You may force an association by selecting a specific well and clicking on <Select TOPS File>.
- Click <OK> to open the Associate TOPS with Horizons window. WinPICS automatically cross-references any TOPS detected in the file with the existing horizons located in the project.
- Click <OK> to continue.
- Once the well tops import is complete, click <Save> to save the well-spot database.
