Naming Rules for Horizons and Grids
Remember the following rules when you name a horizon or grid:
- The maximum length of a horizon/fault or horizon grid is 18 characters.
- Names must be composed of alphanumeric characters (A-Z; a-z; 0-9), dashes (‘-’), or underscores (‘_’). Do not use spaces.
- Horizon names are case-sensitive. Therefore, you can have a horizon named ‘RUNDLE’ and a second horizon name ‘Rundle’.
- When a horizon is sent to gridding, WinPICS appends _T1 (or _T2, etc.) to the end, and truncates the name to ensure it remains 18 characters or less
- When WinPICS appends _T1, _T2, etc. at the end of a name, it generates the next number in sequence, and then confirms that a grid of the same name is not already present. If the name is already present, WinPICS looks for the lowest number and tries again. So if you delete a grid appended _T1, for example, the next time you try to create a grid WinPICS will use _T1 again.
