NAD83 Compatibility

On February 15, 2005, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) recommended adoption of NAD83 as the official geodetic datum for all spatial data. While GeoVista 4.7 data is NAD27 by default, GeoVista has the ability to convert NAD27 well co-ordinates to NAD83 geodetic datum.

You have the following options for converting your datum to NAD83:

Well Ticket

On a well ticket's Options and Exporting toolbar, click to convert your data.

Main Menu bar

1. From the Main Menu bar select Map | Map Datum.
2. From the submenu, choose NAD83 to convert your data.

Export

On the Export/Save Options dialog box's Datum tab, select the NAD83 option.

Text Viewer

On the Text Viewer toolbar, click to change your datum.

• The Status bar always displays the geodetic datum type you chose.
