Customize Toolbars

You can customize the WinPICS toolbars to better suit your needs.

By default, toolbars display at the top of the window. However, you can click and drag them to any location. Toolbars display icons that are unique to the Application toolbar, and Map and Seismic windows. WinPICS includes many default built-in toolbars that you can show and hide as needed.

You can customize the toolbars in the following ways:

Create a New Toolbar

You can add new toolbars to your Application menu and Map or Seismic windows.

Follow these steps:

  1. On the Application, Map, or Seismicmenu toolbar, select Preferences | Customize Toolbar Layouts to open the Customize dialog box.
  2. Click the Toolbars tab,
  3. Click <New> to open the New Toolbar dialog box.
  4. Type a name for your new toolbar.
  5. Click <OK>. The new toolbar is empty until you add buttons to it.

Add a Button to a Toolbar

You may want to add buttons to a toolbar to suit your workflow or preferences. Follow these steps to customize a toolbar by adding command buttons:

  1. From the Application toolbar, Map menu bar, or Seismic menu bar, select Preferences | Customize Toolbar Layouts to open the Customize dialog box.
  2. Click the Commands tab.
  3. Select an option in the Categories window to display its list of available commands in the Commands window.
  4. Click and drag a command from the list, and drop it on the new toolbar.

Delete a Toolbar Button

You may want to remove a command button that you don't use from a toolbar. To delete a command button, hold down <ALT> and drag the button off the toolbar.

Delete a Custom Toolbar

You may no longer want to use a custom toolbar that you created. You can delete a custom toolbar from your Application menu, and from your Map or Seismic windows.

Follow these steps:

  1. From the Application, Map, or Seismic menu bar, select Preferences | Customize Toolbar Layouts to open the Customize dialog box.
  2. Click the Toolbars tab.
  3. Select the custom toolbar you want to delete.
  4. Click <Delete>.

Rename a Custom Toolbar

If you don't like the name you gave to a custom toolbar, you can change it. Follow these steps:

  1. From the Application, Map, or Seismic menu bar, select Preferences | Customize Toolbar Layouts to open the Customize dialog box.
  2. Click the Toolbars tab.
  3. Select the toolbar you want to rename.
  4. Click Rename> to open the Rename Toolbar dialog box.
  5. Type a new name.
  6. Click <OK>.

Reset Toolbar Buttons

To reset a toolbar to its default configuration, follow these steps:

  1. From the Application, Map, or Seismic menu bar, select Preferences | Customize Toolbars Layout to open the Customize dialog box.
  2. Click the Toolbars tab.
  3. Select the name of the toolbar you want to reset.
  4. Click <Reset>.

Save a Toolbar Configuration

When you close WinPICS, any changes you have made to the toolbars are automatically saved.

Move a Toolbar

Move a Docked Toolbar

Drag the move handle to a new location.

Move a Floating Toolbar

Drag the title bar to a new location.

Move a Toolbar Button

To move a toolbar button, hold the <Alt> key while you click and drag the button icon from a toolbar and drop it into another.

Resize a Toolbar

Resize a Docked Toolbar

You cannot resize a docked toolbar. You must first float the toolbar, resize, then dock the toolbar.

Resize a Floating Toolbar

To resize a floating toolbar, move your cursor over any edge, and then click and drag the edge of the toolbar.

Copy a Toolbar Button

To copy a toolbar button, hold the <Ctrl> + <Alt> keys while you click and drag a copy of the toolbar icon from its current location to a new location in its toolbar or another toolbar.

Change the Size of Toolbar Buttons

Follow these steps to change the size of a toolbar button:

  1. From the Application, Map, or Seismic menu bar, select Preferences | Customize Toolbar Layouts to open the Customize dialog box.
  2. Select the Options tab.
  3. Select or clear the Large Icons check box.
