Create a Fence in All Mode
Use the tool to build fences from any combination of 2D lines, 3D in-lines,
cross-lines, wells, and existing gaps, without using hot-keys to switch
between modes.
Follow these steps to create a fence in :
- Zoom
your map to the location where you want to create your fence.
- Click to turn on (or press <f>
on your keyboard).
- Click | to switch to (or press <2>
on your keyboard).
- By default, when you first turn on , WinPICS automatically
sets your cursor to .
- Click on the map in the location where you want
to begin the fence.
- Move the cursor to draw the fence. When you arrive
at a point on the map where you want to end the fence segment, click the
mouse. If the location where you click includes more than one line or
feature, WinPICS will open the
Fence
- Select Volume dialog box where you must choose what to include
in your fence.
- You can stop your fence at one location in the map, and then start it
again in a non-adjacent area by clicking (or pressing <f> on your keyboard) to
insert a gap in the fence.
- Continue moving the mouse and clicking on areas
of the map until you finish defining your fence.
- If you click on the map to create a segment, and you decide you didn't
want to click in that location, click (or press your keyboard's
<Backspace> key) to delete
that fence point.
- Double-click the map to end the fence. WinPICS
will automatically open a Seismic
window to display your fence.

- In the video, you'll notice that you no longer need to switch between
modes using hot-keys. Instead, the Select Volume dialog
box opens to ask which mode you want whenever you click on an area with
more than one line or feature. Also, when you cross a 2D line intersection,
the fence follows the line in the direction you move the cursor, without
you needing to click at the intersection.
