Creating Fences - Overview

After you turn on the Fence mode, use the options on the Fence toolbar, or the WinPICS shortcut keys, to display segments of 2D lines, 3D in-lines, cross-lines, and/or synthetic well traces side-by-side in a Seismic window. This is useful for tying seismic lines, comparing seismic versions, displaying random traverses, and overlaying synthetics on seismic.

WinPICS offers five basic modes for creating fences:

• All
• 2D
• 3D
• Well
• Deviated Well

As well, you can create the following advanced fences:

• Fences With Auto Inserted Synthetics
• Fences Using More Than One Data Type
• Fences With Gaps
• Fences From Overlapping 3D Surveys
• Fences From Random Traverses or Arbitrary Lines
• Fences To Compare Different SEG-Y Versions

At anytime while you are building a fence, you can click (or press <Esc> on your keyboard) to quit building the fence.

• By default, on the synthetic panels, WinPICS will only display tops that have a cross-referenced horizon. If you want to display all imported tops on the synthetic panel, from the Seismic window's Main menu bar select Display | Toggle All or Associated Horizon Well Tops.
