Format Object

Each item on the print layout is an object that you can edit, resize, reposition, or delete. Follow these steps to select an object:

  1. Set your cursor to Select (found on the Print Layout Tools' Tools toolbar).
  2. Click the object you want to select. You can tell the object is selected when a border with boxes appears around the object.

How to Edit

You can edit the Author's Block, lines, shapes, text boxes, and the map size.

  1. Select the object you want to edit.

Tip: If you want to edit text, use the select cursor to double-click on the text. All the map objects should disappear so that you can fully see your text. Type in the new information, and press <Enter> on your keyboard to accept the changes and return to the previous layout view.

  1. Click Format Object (found on either the Print Layout Tools' Tools toolbar, or its Drawing toolbar).
  2. One of the following will open depending on which object you selected.

How to Resize

  1. Select an object.
  2. Hover the mouse over one of the border boxes until the cursor turns into an double arrow (this will only happen for objects that you can resize).
  3. Click and drag the box to resize the object.

How to Reposition

  1. Select an object.
  2. Click and drag the object to its new position on the print layout.
