Requirements
for SEG-Y Import
In order for WinPICS to import
a SEG-Y file, the data in the file must be arranged in the following format:
- All
traces in the file must be the same length.
- The
endian must be the same in trace
and binary headers as in trace data samples.
- All
files must be in SEG-Y structure, and include binary and trace headers.
- Only
or State Plane coordinates are allowed.
- 3D
datasets must be sorted in the in-line direction.
- Before loading, you should scale up any SEG-Y file values < 0 to at least 1.
- 3D
datasets must include all internal traces. Missing external traces can
be dropped. However, any missing internal traces must be written as dead
traces.
- If your headers are missing x/y
coordinates, shotpoints, or in-line/cross-lines, you can still import
your data.
- If your 2D import data is missing
values, use a survey file (see 2D
Survey Import).
- If your 3D data is missing x/y
coordinates, see 3D In-line/Cross-Line
Import.
- If your file is missing in-line/cross-lines,
see 3D Coordinate Import.
- If your 3D data is missing both
x/y coordinates and in-line/cross-lines, see 3D
Rectangular Import.
- For accurate, simple, and fast
SEG-Y import, we recommend you use the Divestco
Workstation-Ready SEG-Y format.
