Survey File Guidelines
You can use a survey file to import 2D SEG-Y X/Y
coordinates or shotpoints data into your project; however, your survey
file must follow these guidelines:
- Survey files must be in or State Plane coordinates.
WinPICS does not support latitude/longitude
coordinates. All data in a project must use the same
coordinate system.
- Units can be meters or feet.
- WinPICS
can read column-, white-space-, and symbol-delimited ASCII files.
- Scale factors
and biases can be used to write shotpoints and
X/Y coordinates.
- Format
files can be defined to skip header lines in the survey file.
- Survey files can contain data for multiple 2D
lines as long as lines follow each other without interruption (only one
header is allowed).
- Survey files don't need shotpoints or X/Y coordinates
for every trace if you select the Match
by Shotpoint option. If a survey file contains every second X/Y,
the wizard will use the shotpoints found in the trace headers, find matching
shotpoints in the survey file, and interpolate or extrapolate to provide
X/Ys. Every shotpoint in the survey file must have a corresponding X/Y
value.
- If you have X/Ys in your survey file but no shotpoints,
select the Match by Trace option.
The first record in the survey file will be assigned to the first trace
of the SEG-Y file, and so on. The survey file must have an entry for every
trace and files must match exactly.
