Compute Well Time

The Compute Well Time function is used to interpolate times for well tops using a time/depth curve from one of the following sources:

An associated checkshot survey.
LAS file with a sonic curve.
A defined top and bottom hole depth and velocity. (These can be imported with the well-spot or hand entered.)

Follow these steps:

On the Applicationtoolbar select |Well Database.
Highlight the wells for which Well Time is to be calculated. (Multi-selection of wells can be accomplished using the <Shift> and <Ctrl> keys).
Select TOPS Functions | Compute Well Time.

When the Well Time calculation has been completed, a check mark will appear in the TOPS Well Time column of the Well-spot database dialog box.

To check that the correct well time has been calculated, double click on a well with a check mark in the TOPS Well Time column of the Well-spot database dialog box. In the Edit Well Spot dialog box click the <Edit TOPS> button. View image

The interpolated time value will appear in the Well Time column.

Prior to calculating well time, you must assign the project a seismic datum and replacement velocity. Each well used in the calculation must have a KB defined for it's borehole. Time at the well bore can also be project from a horizon pick at the nearest seismic trace. See Compute Seismic Time At Well.
