Options - Options for Gridding Initialization
The options for gridding initialization
allow you to change the weighting in the minimum curvature gridding method.
Select the Minimum Curvature gridding
method from the Kernel Gridding window and then click <More Options>.
A new window will open.
Click the down arrow in the right-hand corner of the window under Options for Gridding Initialization
to view the list of available options. Use gridding initialization for
scattered datasets or in areas with holes in input dataset coverage.
In the upper right-hand corner of the window, under Options
for Gridding Initialization, select one of the following three options:
- Do not
do initialization – Minimum curvature fitting proceeds immediately
using input data values as a source for computation. This setting is the
default since it is appropriate for most purposes.
- With linear
weighting function – Before minimum curvature fitting is
applied, grid values are assigned to nodes using a weighting function.
Weighting varies linearly with distance. Tends to produce evenly spaced
contours and simpler structures than exponential weighting.
- With exponent
weighting function – Before minimum curvature fitting is applied,
grid values are assigned to nodes using a weighting function. Weighting
varies exponentially with distance. May be most appropriate for complex
surfaces.
