Amplitude
Scale Factor
Amplitude scaling can be applied to an individual
line or to a line within a fence
display.

Using the Amplitude Scaling Function
- Right-click on the seismic line you wish to scale, and select from the shortcut menu to apply amplitude scaling to the seismic.
- You could also select from the
shortcut menu to apply phase, bulk shift, polarity, and band-pass filter
adjustments in the same window
as the amplitude scaling.
- Move the slider bars up and down to apply amplitude
scaling. The seismic display is updated dynamically.
- When you display a line that
has an amplitude scale factor applied, the magnitude of the scale factor
is displayed on the status bar in the lower left-hand corner of the WinPICS main window. It will look like
this: (Amp X 2.2), where 2.2 is
the amplitude scale factor. An R
will appear on the status bar when the seismic data displayed is in reverse
polarity.
- If desired, you can change
the polarity of your data from the amplitude scale factor window by clicking
on Normal or Reverse.
- Click <OK>
to save changes and exit.
- No changes are made to your
data file. The scale factor is stored in a header file and applied to
traces and picks for display, picking, plotting, and export.
