Edit User Defined Tops

To open the Edit User Defined Tops dialog box, click <Edit User Top> on a well ticket's General Well tab, or, on the Result List tab's toolbar, click to open a shortcut menu. Then select Edit User Top from the shortcut menu. Use this dialog box to define a well's formation tops. User Tops allow you to edit the supplied tops information found in your database. Supplied databases include Ministry Tops, created by the EUBAlberta Energy and Utilities Board, and others created by Divestco. Read more.

You can accept the information of any database or create your own database by editing the supplied databases. By creating your own database, you will always have to the option to revert to the supplied databases whenever you wish. Use the Usertop Preference dialog box to set which tops you want to use, and create an order of precedence so that GeoVista will handle designated databases in a defined order.

Edit User Defined Tops Dialog Box

This dialog box has the following options:

Formation Summary Table - Lists information about the selected well's user tops that are available to the Current User. You can sort and move these columns as necessary. Read more.

Edit Tops - Click on a field in the formation summary table, and type in the new information. Read more.

Buttons

<Add Row> - Add a row for a new user-defined top. Read more.
<Delete Row> - Delete the currently selected user-defined top (you cannot delete Ministry tops).

Tip: If you delete a row by mistake, click <Undo Changes> to return the row to the table. This only works if you did not click <Save Tops> after the delete.

<Save Tops> - Save all the changes you made to the formation tops.
When you save changes to the formation summary table, you might notice some of your edits disappear. Read more.
<Undo Changes> - Disregard all the changes you made to the formation tops. This option reverts the formation summary table back to the last time you clicked <Save Tops>.
<Close> Exits the dialog box. GeoVista will prompt you to save any new changes (if applicable).

Options

Current User - This list displays the abbreviated names for all the authors that can edit formation tops in this database. By default, this list displays the name you set in the Identify User dialog box. When you edit or add user tops, the name selected in this list appears in the Author field in the formation summary table. Read more.
<Change Units> - Click this button to switch the figures in the table from metric to imperial, and vice versa.
Calculate Deviated Wells - Clear this check box if you do not want GeoVista to calculate deviated wells.
