What's New in WinPICS v5.9
(Download this topic in PDF)
The following are the major new features in the WinPICS v5.9 release:
Seismic Window Enhancements
- - You can now investigate color ranges to see where selected amplitude ranges exist within your horizons.
- - You can now access the Histogram from the seismic color bar to display the amplitude distributions of sections in your seismic data.
- - Picking gate restrictions now confine picks to a specific gate set.
Interactive Map Enhancements
- - You can now add, arrange, organize, and delete your layers and folders easier using new icons and right-click functions. You can also save a Layer Manager configuration and set it as the default for your project going forward.
- - WinPICS now retains settings for the drawing order, and the display status for hardcopy plotting.
-
- You can now edit the ranges of your data with the Histogram to create a new surface that highlights the spatial configuration of your data's surface values.
- - You will now have smoother interaction with GeoVista layers when you activate GeoVista from WinPICS .
- - To improve synchronization and productivity, WinPICS now enables you to select for the Well Top to post. This option will tie the posting to the values of the top associated with your currently posted horizon, and will synchronize as you post different horizons.
- - Redesigned posting pattern for multiple well tops. This improves the visibility of the postings within your map.
- - You can now select which layer you want from a shortcut menu when multiple map layers such as 2D and 3D seismic, or wells, overlap each other in your map.
- - Use the new deviated well fence mode to create fences on a 3D that shows a deviated well borehole.
Well Database Enhancements
-
- You can now automatically place well positions on your seismic by using TVD values, seismic reference datum, and seismic times to calculate a new checkshot file for any wells that currently do not have checkshots.
-
- If you import a shape file with well spots, WinPICS automatically displays the well spots as visible circles on the map, regardless of the files' point size.
- - You can update sonic information across your entire database by modifying a Lookup table (LUT) file from the well spot database.
- - To resolve previous issues with importing and associating LAS files containing no sonic curve, or when the mnemonic for the sonic curve is not represented in the sonic mnemonic LUT file, now you can to import LAS files without creating a synthetic. Also, editing the proper LUT file allows LAS files to be re-associated to create correct synthetic files.
- - A straight line approximation of a deviated survey is now only used on map to highlight the association of a surface hole to bottom hole location. Due to being misleading and error prone, WinPICS discontinued the use of a straight line approximation of a deviated survey for locating tops.
Printing Enhancements
- - Now experience smoother interaction with the print driver when you set the paper size.
